Vintage Mexican Sterling Mixed Metals Turquoise Fish Brooch
This vintage Mexican silver and brass 1950's modern design brooch features a layer of either black vinyl or possibly lacquered material sandwiched between a sterling silver back and a brass top.
Inlaid into the top is a sterling silver fish design and an oval shape which are each inlaid with chip turquoise.
The brass top also features a pierced star shape that is very familiar to mid century MOD pieces of art.
Measures approximately 1 3/4 x 1 5/8 inches.
The marks on the reverse are not completely clear but the signature appears to be either a capital RA or RH with 925 below it and surrounded by Hencho En Mexico Sterling.
The Eagle Mark is also not completely clear but may be an Eagle 1.
For anyone not familiar with vintage Mexican silver jewelry, the Eagle make was a registration mark assigned to workshops in Mexico from 1948 to 1970 and was used on all silver for export and was a guarantee of the fineness of the silver used.
