Victorian 14K Mourning Cross Woven Hair and Pearl
This antique Victorian era cross was created in 14k gold with a small bezel set pearl and brown woven hair.
This type of jewelry is often referred to as mourning jewelry and many of the pieces made during the 1700's into the later 1800's were created to remember a lost loved one but pieces like this were also made with the hair of a living loved one.
This style of jewelry was so popular by the late 1800's that women often had afternoon gatherings with friends to braid hair that they would then take to a jeweler to have made into a keepsake.
This piece measures approximately 1 3/16 inches long from the top of the bail by 5/8 inch wide.
There are no makers marks or karat marks but this piece has been tested and guaranteed to be 14k.
