Navajo Turquoise Ring By Lonnie Willie
This stunning vintage Navajo turquoise ring created by the award winning silversmith Lonnie Willie is bezel set with a semi oval shape turquoise cabochon and surrounded by his signature style scalloped border hand created with saw and file work.
It is sometimes difficult to distinguish what mine a piece of turquoise came from. The green, brown and white mottling in this beautiful gemstone suggests it could possibly be either Pilot Mountain or Royston turquoise.
The top of the ring measures 1 inch by 1/2 inch with the cabochon being approximately 21.1 by 8.9mm.
Size 7 1/2.
Lonnie learned his craft by attending the Albuquerque Indian school in the early 1970's and over the next few decades would earn many awards for his designs
There are several generations of the Willie family that Lonnie and his younger brother Rudy introduced to silversmithing and the families work is highly sought after not only in the United States but abroad as well.
This is a very wearable piece of Native American jewelry and would make a great addition to any collection.
