Vintage Taxco Mexican Sterling Mixed Metal Fish Pendant Brooch
This mid century modern design Mexican sterling silver fish pendant brooch is accented with two small marquise shape and one pear shape copper designs with one having chip inlay.
This piece was created with a sterling silver back and top with a black color material between the two layers. It is not possible to test what this black material is without damaging the piece but some of the possibilities are vinyl from old records which Native Americans used to make jewelry in the 1930's or possibly an enamel over another material. In any case it adds a very nice touch to this piece.
Measuring approximately 2 1/4 inches long x 5/8 inch wide.
Signed on the reverse with an Eagle 3 mark as well as signed AAB surrounded by Taxco 925 Mexico.
Who doesn't love a cute fish design and If you love mid Century Modern than this piece with the ability to wear it as a pendant or a brooch is a must to add to your collection.
For anyone not familiar with vintage Mexican silver jewelry, the Eagle make was a registration mark assigned to workshops in Mexico from 1948 to 1970 and was used on all silver for export and was a guarantee of the fineness of the silver used.
